OVERVIEW
Living the Valley of Roses slowly, as guests of a Berber family
10 days / 9 nights · Valley of Roses and Marrakech
There is a Morocco you discover by staying, rather than moving on. This journey takes us into the Valley of Roses, as guests in the family home of our guide, near Kelaa M'gouna. After the great Tichka pass we arrive at day's end to a welcome tea, and from there we let the rhythm of the villages set the pace.
For a week we walk unhurried (3–5 hours a day, in loops), among pink mountains, shale and red clay dunes, with one night camping under the stars. We meet nomads on their seasonal migration, step inside a rose-essence distillery, learn Berber cooking, build a bread oven, and experience the hammam and local markets. On the way back, the journey passes through the Fint oasis and Aït Ben Haddou, before two days in Marrakech.
Not a tour of sights, but the life of a family and a valley, lived from within.
